Nothing New

Not really much to report. My mom and I went to Sanyu Babies' Home this afternoon, and I got to meet the baby that could have been mine. Back in December the Director contacted me about a little girl that was available for adoption, but I was already in process with Doreen. It was hard to see all these babies that need love and who were so craving attention, but it was also special to know that there is a waiting list of families who are ready to take on that role.

When I picked Dorie up from school today, she was in such a good mood. We had fun this afternoon trying to learn how to work a yo-yo. She sticks her tongue out when she concentrates hard. I love it! She was too short so we had to go out to the steps to give her some height. She was so cute when she finally did it!!

  4. Hi Melissa: Checking in to see how things are progressing. I've been away from the computer the last few days. Madison was finally born last night (Wed.). I sent you pictures via e-mail and there are some posted on my Facebook page as well. Take a look if you get the chance.

I'm so glad your judge wants children placed and was willing to hear your case and provide the extra time which will be good for resolving the visa issue.

Even with all of these hurdles, I'm still confident that this is going to work out. I know it's easy for me to say because I'm not living it, but I think that's one of the most comforting things about being a Christian-the confidence we have in the Lord, whether it's our own or for someone else.

It's amazing how the scriptures we've been reading are just so relevant to your journey and are screaming out to us to stay steadfast. Love it!

Praying for you all the time and will definitely pray for your mom as she travels home alone.

    Love you,
    Anne

  5. Melissa I have not been sure where the best place to leave you a message is because I haven't wanted to waste your internet time. We are praying for you and are praising God for all that he has done, is doing, and will do. I love that you say, "But God," It's so true! God can always amaze us with his love and care. He will take care of the details both in California and Uganda. Dorie is so beautiful!
Much love to you (three! with mom!),

  6. I don't know if you know of our family, but we're also waiting to bring home two children from Uganda -- we were "at the top of the wait list" at Sanyu at the same time you were, but are adopting from Ibanda babies home. yay! now if we could just get things moving.... ;)
I'm not sure if I've ever commented on your blog before or not, but I couldn't resist in this case...
I used to sell yo-yo's at the national yo-yo museum in Chico, CA, so I just wanted to offer you my expertise! :) let the yo-yo out to it's full length, and then cut the string just above Dorie's bellybutton. tie a loop, and viola, it will be the right length for her to achieve her maximum yo-yo potential. though your way looked fun too!
praying that things get moving soon, we need to get these kids home!!
    hugs,
    tiffani
